The Coaching Staff also consists of volunteer parents who donate their personal time to the fulfillment of our club’s mission.  Those who wish to join the coaching staff are required to be approved by the FVWC Executive Board, be “Copper Certified” or higher through the USA Wrestling, https://www.usawmembership.com/login, and pass a background check conducted through the USAW / IKWF.

Coaches are expected to regularly assist in practice sessions, offer mat-side coaching at competitive events, volunteer for club events/activities and be a positive influence on all of our wrestlers. 

Instructions for Coaching Certification:
(Mandatory for all volunteer coaches)

1. Create An Account
    a. Go to USAW’s membership system and either login with an existing account or create a new account: www.usawmembership.com
NOTE: Creating an account only gives you access to the system.  
 
2. Claim or Create a Profile
      a. Returning coaches will claim their old profile from USAW’s previous membership system.
      b. New coaches will create their profile.
NOTE: Your profile contains all your personal data.

3. Complete Background Screening (if required)
     a. All coaches are required to pass a background screening every other season by USAW’s background screening provider.
     b. Background screening fee is $20.
     c. Background screenings take a minimum of 5 business days and in some cases up to 30 Business days to complete the search after your information has been submitted.

4. Complete Safe Sport Certification
      a. All coaches and officials are required to complete the  Safe Sport Certification provided by the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) to coach or officiate at any USAW event.
      b. Complete Certification Course through your USAW account.
      c. There is no fee to take this course.
     d. You can take this course while still waiting for your background check.
NOTE: You are required to have an APPROVED BACKGROUND SCREENING and a COMPLETED SAFE SPORT CERTIFICATION before you can purchase your USAW coach’s membership.

5. Purchase USA "Wrestling Leader Membership"
     a. You must purchase your membership through USAW for a fee of $45.75 at www.usawmembership.com.

6. Complete National Coaches Education Program (NCEP) Certification (if required).
      a. The IKWF requires ALL coaches to have one of USAW NCEP certification levels (copper, bronze, silver, or gold) to coach at ANY
           IKWF event.
      b. Complete Certification Course through your USAW account.
      c. Copper is $50 and 4 hours online and Bronze is $80 and 6 hours online.  Other is acceptable.
